Founded 2006 in Château de Germolles (F) and meeting again in 2008 at the Villa Medici in Rome (I), the international network consisting of enamel enthusiasts (conservators, art historians, scientists, enamellers) convened every two years. The 7th biennial conference will take place in Stuttgart from June 7th to 9th, 2018, on invitation of the Objects’ Conservation Programme of the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design.

In 24 posters and oral presentations, researchers from seven European countries and the US will contribute their recent findings in art history, conservation, and material science of historic enamel objects. The programme covers all times and regions from painted Limoges enamels to 20th century US art. Current projects in renowned institutions like the Louvre, The Art Institute of Chicago, or the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin will be presented. The Art Academy Stuttgart will give an overview of their research how the reaction of humidity with historic enamel causes contact corrosion of metals (www.abk-stuttgart.de/forschung/forschungs-projekte/konservierung-und-restaurierung-von-kulturgut/glas-induzierte-metallkorrosion-an-kulturgut.html).
