Workshops
Inhalt
The ABK Stuttgart’s unique profile includes over thirty workshops and laboratories, which are designed and equipped as teaching and experimental workshops. On the one hand, they offer students the opportunity to learn about a wide range of techniques, skills and topics, and on the other hand, they support them in implementing their artistic development projects. Independent work, autonomy and proficiency are the educational concepts at the heart of the teaching. The focus is not on the production of an object, but on gaining knowledge through engagement with techniques and materials and active participation in the respective processes. This is the basic prerequisite for independent work and the autonomous development of artistic and design concepts.
The Bauhaus principle applies, which encompasses both the applied and the fine arts: ‘Mastery of craftsmanship is essential for every artist. This is the source of creative imagination’ (Walter Gropius).
The courses offered in the workshops are independent and cross-disciplinary, and to a large extent also cross-departmental.
