Veronica Valentini: „Diversorium – InterdepenDANCE. For a curatorial practice of the bond“
Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste: Campus Weißenhof, FLAG-Pavillon
We are happy to welcome Veronica Valentini with her project “Diversorium.” In her talk she reflects on curatorial interdepenDANCE as a situated and evolving practice. Through concrete examples – including the recent “Diversorium” in Stuttgart developed in collaboration with the “Dance Gatherings” by choreographer Alice Chauchat – the talk explores how curating can become a choreographic movement of responsiveness. Navigating between artistic research, social commitment, and infrastructural care, this approach opens up spaces for affective labor, political imagination, and shared responsibility.
Veronica Valentini is a Barcelona-based curator, educator, and researcher working at the intersection of visual arts, education, and social context. Her work focuses on the creation of new audiences, cultural rights, accessibility practices, and new institutionalism from an intersectional perspective. She is the founder and director of E.M.M.A. and BAR project, co-curator of exhibitions and training programs at HAUS, and head of international residencies and research programs at Hangar, Barcelona.
As mediator for “Concomitentes” – the Spanish iteration of the European network “New Patrons” – she co-developed “Diversorium. Live arts and a space for coexistence,” a crip and queer party space for everybodies. Initiated alongside activists Maria Oliver and Antonio Centeno Ortiz from the Independent Living Movement, “Diversorium” advocates for a communal space in which to come together, celebrate, and “move” the discriminations that separate us. It has taken place in Barcelona, Stockholm, and Paris, and recently featured at Manifesta 15. In 2025, it will open the Current – Art and Urban Space festival in Stuttgart, on Thursday, 26 June at Marienplatz with participation of students of ABK Stuttgart.
