Herzliche Einladung zum letzten Vortrag in der Reihe der Péter Horváth Artist Lecture Series im Wintersemester 2025/26 mit dem Künstler Luca Bertolo.

„Making art isn’t just adding something to the millions of already existing images and objects or ideas; making art, as far as I understand it, means reacting to what’s there in front of you. By the way, among what’s in front of you there are hidden prejudices, forgotten poems, impossible loves – all things that you would not immediately classify as civil or political issues. Focusing less on the subject (historical event) of a painting and more on the painting as the subject of History (or various histories). Now, the painting is an organism that is half metaphysical – as an image – and half physical – as an object. An image is decidedly metaphysical; in fact, even if the two young men protesting had doused the Rokeby Venus with gasoline and set it on fire, completely destroying it, its image – multiplied in the memory of everyone who saw the painting and in all the photos circulating on the web and in books – would not have been affected. But the painting is also a thing, made of fabric, wood, and paint.“ – Luca Bertolo
