NEMOSINE was an EU founded project for the development of innovative packaging solutions for storage and conservation of audiovisual media and cultural heritage objects based on cellulose derivatives (https://nemosineproject.eu/)

The objective was to improve traditional storage solutions by developing an innovative package with the main goal of energy saving and extending the lifetime of the media. In contrast to conventional film cans, the packages are equipped with the latest sensor & adsorption technology, to monitor decomposition processes and to adsorb decomposition products. A control software platform, based on predictive modeling, simulates degradation processes and will alert of the risks on each material to provide the archivist advice on appropriate preservation decisions. The presentation gives an overview of the results achieved within this project and outlines the benefits for cultural objects in general.
