City on the City, Sina Talaei
Inhalt
This project began with a simple observation.
Over time, cities often erase the very histories that shaped them. Layers of conflict, transformation, occupation and reconstruction gradually replace one another until the traces of the past become invisible.
Rather than asking how a city can be rebuilt after destruction, this project asks a different question:
How can a city construct a new future without erasing its scars?
The project proposes a second urban layer elevated above the existing city. Instead of replacing what exists below, this new layer coexists with it. The existing city becomes the ground upon which a new urban figure emerges. Between these two layers, a void is created—a spatial and temporal distance that allows the past to remain visible while making space for new forms of life.
