Im Mittelpunkt des Symposiums steht das Phänomen der Alientation/Entfremdung, das nicht zuletzt aufgrund der Diversität der Gäste des Symposiums aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln betrachtet und diskutiert werden wird. Die Positionen von Richard Prince, Victor Shklovsky, Freud/Lacan, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Karl Marx und Georg Lukacs werden darüber hinaus thematisiert und besprochen. Beiträge seitens des Publikums sind erwünscht.

Johan Frederik Hartle, Dr. phil., is Assistant Professor for Philosophy of Art and Culture at the department of Philosophy, University of Amsterdam (UvA) and adjunct professor for Philosophy and Art Theory at the School of Intermedia Art (SIMA) at the China Academy of Art (CAA) in Hangzhou, China. Recent publications: Rainer Ganahl/Johan FrederikHartle: „DADALENIN“, Zurich/Stuttgart: Edition Taube 2013. He is currently finishing a book on the visual culture of Red Vienna („Die Sichtbarkeit des Proletariats”, Vienna: Turia + Kant.

Dr. Dorothee Richter ist Kuratorin, Autorin und Filmemacherin. Sie lehrte an der Universität Bremen, der Universität Lüneburg, an der Ecole des Beaux Arts in Genf, an der Merz Akademie Stuttgart und an der Züricher Hochschule der Künste, wo sie 2005 das Postgraduate Programme in Curating gründete. 2008 gründete Richter das Webjounral OnCurating.org, co-publisher ist derzeit Michael Birchall. Seitdem Veranstaltung zahlreicher Symposien, u.a. gemeinsam mit Rein Wolfs Institution as Medium, Curating as Institutional Critique im Fridericianum in Kassel; gemeinsam mit Adrian Notz kuratierte sie ein Fluxus Festival im Cabaret Voltaire; 2012 kuratierte Dorothee Richter eine Reihe im Kunstmuseum Thun: New Social Sculptures, 2013 das Symposium „Who is afraid of the public?“ im ICA in London. Barry Schwabsky is art critic for The Nation and co-editor of international reviews for Artforum. His most recent booksare Words for Art: Criticism, History, Theory, Practice (Sternberg Press) and a collection of poems, Trembling Hand Equilibrium (Black Square Editions). Forthcoming from Verso next year is The Perpetual Guest: Art in the UnfinishedPresent.
