    Welcome to Stuttgart

The Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design was founded in 1761 and is a state recognized institution with University status. The Academy has a longstanding academic tradition of excellence in the fields of Fine Arts, Architecture, Design and Conservation – Art History. Students are enrolled in B.A., M.A. and German Diplom degree courses, ranging from Architecture, Communication Design through to painting and Stage Costume design, to name just a few. Students who study at the Stuttgart Academy must be disciplined and self-motivated in order to successfully navigate the independent mode of study where students are challenged in an international environment of innovation and learning, encompassing all disciplines of art and design.

The International Office is responsible for the implementation and financing of international mobility and scholarship programmes, as well as offering advice and information to incoming/outgoing students (studies and work placement), teachers and staff about foreign exchanges and scholarship/funding possibilities.

Assistance and advice is also available regarding language skills for international exchanges, including advice about language courses and requirements.

Within the university administration the International Office is responsible for supporting the president's office and faculties with the development, cultivation and financing of the ABK Stuttgart’s international partnerships. It advises and is active in the area of internationalization, especially with regards to university partnerships and consortiums.

The International Office represents the Academy in its cooperation with funding bodies and scientific organizations, international recruiting and marketing measures, and is also involved in international accreditation procedures and practices.
