Interdisciplinary Project Week

Since 2023, the ABK Stuttgart has been hosting the ‘Interdisciplinary Project Week’, which has become an integral part of the academic calendar and has promoted creative exchange between disciplines.
At the heart of the ‘Interdisciplinary Project Week’ lies what characterises the ABK: the wide-ranging opportunities to look beyond the scope of one’s own degree programme, to familiarise oneself with other disciplines through shared theory and practice, and to engage in cross-disciplinary exchange. In addition to teaching activities such as lectures, presentations, workshops and seminars, there are also symposia featuring high-profile speakers and experimental event formats on interdisciplinary topics.
In 2024, the “Herbstsalon” was organised for the first time as part of the project week – a juried exhibition for students from all departments at the ABK, which took place again in 2025. In addition to the presentation of selected artworks, themed presentations from the fields of architecture, design and conservation were also showcased. A jury comprising students and lecturers from the ABK Stuttgart selected the best works and awarded the A-B-K Prize to three of them. The organisation and curation of the exhibition are in the hands of an interdisciplinary student team.
The Interdisciplinary Project Week is aimed at all members of the ABK – students, lecturers and staff – as well as the general public.
The event is organised by Willem Müller, Prof. Anne Bergner, Prof. Rolf Bier, Moritz Riesenbeck, Hannah Emily Auth, Marion Butsch, Katja Derr and Kristina Pauli.
