Knitting Design Studio
Weißenhof Campus,
Buliding E (Neubau 1), Rooms 103 and 104
The Knitting Studio enables students to learn and develop their skills in the art of knitting on manual knitting machines. The Knitting Studio is the setting for projects that explore knitting for fashion, interior design and architecture, as well as facilitating the development of artistic or technical knitting applications.
Single-bed knitting machines offer the opportunity to work experimentally, to incorporate external materials into the knit, and to create three-dimensional knitted pieces directly on the machine. On double-bed knitting machines, complex knitted fabrics using different yarn weights can be developed.
The knitting studio is complemented by a weft-knitting machine and an extensive stock of yarn. The adjoining workshop contains cutting tables, dress forms and a pattern archive to assist with the planning and execution of bespoke projects.
