Range of courses
The following modules are offered alternately each semester:
Pre-press
The introductory course covers the general theoretical principles of pre-press using practical examples, such as screen rulings, greyscale, file and image formats, etc.
Indirect flat printing, offset printing
(Compulsory course for communication designers)
The course serves as an introduction to the technique of sheet-fed printing and aims to impart general theoretical and practical foundations of pre-press and indirect sheet-fed printing (offset printing) through the creation of print files, the exposure of printing plates and printing on a proof press. Among other things, through independent work, students will learn about various methods of inking and making corrections when printing on the offset proof press, and will gain an understanding of the specific characteristics and advantages of offset printing.
Screen printing/silkscreen printing
The course serves as an introduction to the technique of screen printing and aims to teach general theoretical and practical principles of pre-press work through the production of copying and printing templates. Through the preparatory and follow-up work involved in producing the stencil carriers, students learn the essential basics required to produce a usable screen printing stencil.
Using practical examples, the characteristic features and distinctive aspects of screen printing are illustrated in the context of both machine and manual printing.
Individual support is provided to students on all degree programmes and at all stages of their studies, subject to consultation and taking into account each student’s level of knowledge.
