Facilities

  • SD, HD, HDV and 4K cameras and recording equipment
  • Various computers equipped with software for, amongst other things, sound, editing, effects and animation
  • Artificial lighting – studio lighting with a 48-channel control console
  • Various microphones, tripods, audio recording equipment, video and audio mixers, DAT recorders, CD and DVD players, CRT and flat-screen monitors
  • Crass trick table with digital single-frame recording capability in Full HD
  • Projection equipment: video projectors, 16mm film projectors and slide projectors
  • Analogue equipment: 16mm Bolex and Crass 16mm cameras, 16mm Steenbeck editing table with 6 platters, BetaSP, VHS/S-VHS, CC deck

Course Content

The fundamentals of audiovisual media, such as animated films, video, lighting and sound technology, are taught in both theory and practice, enabling students to realise moving-image projects with the aid of technical equipment.

Key creative aspects, including storyboarding/scriptwriting, dramaturgy, production workflow, camera work and framing, image and sound recording, editing and mixing, as well as the use and handling of equipment, are discussed in theory and put into practice through practical exercises.

Lessons take place in the workshop’s facilities: video recording studio, sound studio with voice-over booth, video control room, animation room, seminar room and ‘cinema’.

Winter term

  • Compulsory subjects for the 3rd semester of Communication Design (KD) with an exam
  • Project work and supervision of individual projects
  • Video production course for KNMDI students

Sommer term

  • Individual project supervision; primarily pre-diploma film projects in the 4th semester of the KD programme
  • Other support for individual projects
