Deregistration
Inhalt
Upon deregistration, the student’s membership of the ABK Stuttgart ceases. Deregistration takes place
- automatically
- or at the student’s request.
Withdrawal from your studies generally takes effect at the end of the semester in which it is issued. Upon application, it may be issued with immediate effect.
Automatic deregistration
Automatic deregistration from the university is governed by the State Higher Education Act in accordance with Section 62.
Students are automatically deregistered from theirs studies at the end of the current semester if
- they have successfully completed their degree
- their admission has lapsed due to the loss of their entitlement to take exams for the degree programme in which they are enrolled (this is governed by the relevant study and examination regulations of ABK Stuttgart)
- re-registration for the following semester (payment of the semester fee and, where applicable, any further tuition fees) has not been completed.
Automatic deregistration can subsequently be converted into deregistration upon application. To do so, please contact the Office of Student Affairs.
Deregistration upon application
An application for deregistration may be submitted to the Office of Student Affairs at any time. De-registration normally takes place at the end of the semester. You may also deregister with immediate effect during the semester if there are special reasons, for example, to take up a job, to discontinue your studies, to transfer to another university, or if you have lost your right to sit examinations.
If you deregister with immediate effect, you must hand in your student ID card to the Office of Student Affairs.
Deregistration certificate
Once you have been deregistered, a deregistration certificate will be generated in the ABK Campus System, which you should download and print out as soon as possible. You will need this, for example, for pension insurance or to enrol at another university.
For students who have statutory health insurance, ABK Stuttgart will electronically notify the relevant health insurance provider of the deregistration.
Cancellation of enrolment
Have you been admitted to a degree programme and enrolled, but have now decided not to start your studies after all?
In this case, we can grant you exceptional deregistration.
You may declare that you are declining your place and/or cancel your enrolment by 30 September (winter semester) or 31 March (summer semester) at the latest, even if you have already paid your fees.
To do so, please send an informal message to studieren@abk-stuttgart.de stating that you are declining your place.
If you withdraw from the programme within one month of the start of the lecture period, ABK Stuttgart will refund the fee already paid.
The place on the study programme itself remains valid for all ABK courses for two years after passing the entrance examination; this remains unaffected.
