workshop for dying and textile printing
Inhalt
workshop for dying and textile printing
Mon–Fri 9 am–12 noon and 1 pm–4.30 pm
Weißenhof Campus,
Keramikbau, Room 138
The Textile Printing and Dyeing Workshop sees itself as an artistic space for ideas and creativity, as well as a venue for experimentation, design and the realisation of student projects.
At the heart of the workshop is an eight-metre-long industrial flat-bed printing table (‘screen printing table’) for repeat prints and pattern development. The textile printing area is complemented by sections dedicated to dyeing and garment manufacturing. This blend of techniques in textile finishing enables contemporary and forward-looking material and product developments, as well as the use of traditional techniques within the field of textile design.
The aim is to guide and support individual creative projects, to develop students’ sensitivity to textiles and aesthetics, and to impart a sound and lasting understanding of textile specifications and industrial manufacturing processes.

Range of courses
Traditional textile finishing – that is, textile dyeing, textile printing and subsequent finishing processes – involves highly sensory techniques that are closely linked to considerations of product quality, product properties and the aesthetic effect.
Through practical exercises, theoretical lectures and the project-based implementation of designs, students gain an understanding of and a feel for the creative and technical possibilities of textile finishing.
Our in-house workshop experience gives us confidence in the design impact and functional properties of textile materials.
Experimental techniques play a significant role in the innovative, creative and avant-garde aspects of textile printing and dyeing.
