Range of courses
As part of the course, students receive guidance on their individual artistic projects, and support is provided throughout the processes and stages involved in their realisation and transformation into bronze. In addition to practical design processes, the course aims to explore and experiment with ways of expanding creative possibilities.
On the one hand, exploring traditional concepts of form and design patterns; on the other, examining their extensions and dissolutions.
Exploring the challenges posed by three-dimensional and two-dimensional visual and design concepts in the preliminary stages of planning their realisation in bronze.
Students are introduced to specific techniques and materials; through further exploration, they discover ways of isolating these from the creative process and experiment with using them as design elements in their own right.
Tactile and visual qualities become perceptible.
Basic creative and craft processes, as well as preparatory techniques, are taught and supervised.
To familiarise oneself with wax as a technical intermediate material for bronze casting, as well as to use this material as an artistic medium.
The course covers skills and how they are interrelated, such as:
- Impression-taking techniques using silicone rubber, plaster, wax and clay
- Production of wax models with the necessary casting channels and venting systems
- Learning how to work with bronze as a molten metal
- Casting process and removing the castings from the moulds (group work)
- Final steps, such as metalworking and, in particular, surface finishing
- Patination as a subjective, artistic colouring technique
