Range of courses

General information

The Media Workshop: Art programme is divided into two parts. In addition to a workshop space where students can work at their own workstations – either independently or with individual supervision – and carry out their projects in the field of digital media, regular classes on various topics within the field of digital media are held in the lecture theatre throughout the semester.

On the ABK portal, there is a separate section for each semester’s modules, in which the individual courses are briefly described: portal.abk-stuttgart.de

There you will also find a series of tutorials on the individual areas of work listed below, focusing in particular on digital tools that are accessible to everyone and run on as many operating systems as possible: portal.abk-stuttgart.de/course

Centre of Excellence for Alternative Software

A distinctive feature of the courses at the Media Workshop is the parallel use of open-source and commercial software. Wherever possible and appropriate, alternative software – which can be used free of charge or without a rental licence – is always offered alongside the standard software. Detailed information on this, as well as a comprehensive overview of the alternatives we use, can be found at alternativprogramm.org.

Through partnerships with other higher education institutions (e-studio at the Stuttgart University of Music and the Free Academy of Fine Arts in Baden-Württemberg), students have the opportunity to take part in additional courses.

A range of AV equipment can be borrowed from the Media Workshop for Art to help students carry out their projects.

For individual support appointments, you will need to make arrangements with the workshop staff.
