At the ABK Stuttgart, Art Studies is not a degree programme in its own right, but rather a range of courses covering the fields of art history, art theory and aesthetics, as well as art education and educational sciences, which is available to students on all degree programmes.

“Art history is the academic discipline concerned with the study of the historical and systematic issues relating to the visual arts and their history” (Encyclopaedia of Aesthetics, 1992).

Students at the ABK Stuttgart are welcome to attend lectures and colloquia organised by the Institute of Art History at the University of Stuttgart. Subject to agreement with the relevant lecturers, students at all levels of study may attend introductory seminars and seminars. Conversely, students at the Institute of Art History at the University of Stuttgart are welcome to attend lectures and seminars on art history at the ABK Stuttgart. Subject to agreement with the relevant lecturers, attendance at introductory seminars and advanced seminars is also possible for students at all levels of study. The teaching schedules of the professors and lecturers are displayed on the noticeboard of the Department of Art History (Weißenhof Campus: Old Building, Room 317). Important dates, details of presentation topics, excursions and so on are also announced there.

The library is open to anyone who wishes to use it. It serves as the department’s main hub for communication. For degree programmes that require credits in art history, the provisions of the relevant study regulations apply.
