Unter dem Titel Jour fixe veranstaltet die ABK Stuttgart eine traditionsreiche Vortragsreihe innerhalb des Themengebiets Architektur. In diesem Semester dreht sich die Reihe um den englischen Begriff „Matter“, der mit Materie, Substanz, Stoff genauso übersetzt werden kann wie mit Sache, Thema oder Frage. Mit „On Matter“ präsentiert die Akademie internationale Positionen zu Fragen des Stofflichen in der Architektur.

Referenten: Donald Matheson and Jason Whiteley, MATHESON WHITELEY: “Recent Projects“

Matheson Whiteley is an architectural practice based in London, established in 2012 and led by Donald Matheson and Jason Whiteley. The practice have an on-going interest in the contemporary re-use of existing buildings and infrastructure and propose a model for development that is neither explicitly modern nor overly beholden to the past, but rather coaxes undervalued spaces back into public life while retaining a memory of their previous functions. Completed projects include art galleries in London and New York, the conversion of disused commercial space in East London into artist studios, a studio for the graphic agency North and an award winning workspace project within Sea Containers on London’s South Bank. www.mathesonwhiteley.com
